Testing
The first step at the Fatigue and Thyroid center is to use test that can look beneath the tip of the iceberg. These tests include:
1. TRH Stimulation Test
A more sensitive thyroid tests, called the TRH Stimulation Test. The routine tests are static blood test that can easily miss the diagnosis. The TRH, by injecting a natural hormone called TRH, stimulates your pituitary gland, which then reveals the pituitary-thyroid status. New studies have shown that many people who have symptoms of low thyroid with normal routine thyroid blood test have an abnormal TRH Test. A study done in Israel shows that many women who struggle with infertility (which can be caused by a low thyroid and who have normal routine thyroid test) in fact have a low thyroid when tested with the TRH Test.
2. Vitamin and Mineral blood test to evaluate for insulin resistance (a condition in which the cells are unable to adequately pick up insulin), which more and more studies are showing is the underlying dysfunction for many diseases.
3. Full Hormone Evaluation
4. Adrenal Gland Testing
5. Heavy Metal Testing
6. Liver Detoxification Capacity Evaluation
7. Evaluation for Fatty Liver
8. Stool Test
9. Viral Titers
10. Insulin Glucose Challenge Test
With our extensive holistic evaluation we not only can see the deeper metabolic causes but we will also see how seemingly unrelated systems are also dysfunctional and are contributing to your symptoms. Only by evaluating for cellular, organ and system dysfunctions, which causes the immune system to change the flow of information it sends via messenger molecules to the rest of the body, can we truly understand why you don’t feel well. Only by understanding how toxins and inflammation is damaging organs can we understand why you don’t feel well. Only by understanding why and how the body frequently shifts into and inflammatory and insulin resistance state can we begin to understand why you don’t feel well, and yet it is frequently not included in a medical evaluation of your symptoms.
